We just came back from spending 4 weeks in Zihua. Playa La Ropa was great. The bungalows are an easy walk to the beach. We stayed in the older one's which were very charming but the newer one's are very nice. They have two bedrooms and two baths and nicely decorated. Rosa and her family are wonderful people. It's was like living with a Mexican family since their home is one of the bungalow's. Great for the kids to hear Spanish spoken. We felt very safe there. Everything is very easy to get to. Lots of water sports for the kids. It's cheap and easy to get a bus or taxi into town. You don't need a car. We're going back again and staying at Rosa's bungalows. Sincerely, Barbara  & Mike Lofgren

Hola Rosa!

I'm writing you to tell you what a wonderful time we had at your Villa "Palomas" at Casa Tucanes. We were delighted to see how charming the bungalow was, with it's tile floors & countertops, and tasteful decor. The BEST part was being able to get to know you and your family (and of course, your beautiful dogs and your parrot!) We feel like we have friends in Zihuatanejo. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We look forward to coming back very soon.

Sincerely,Julia Buckland

Dear Rosa Elena & Mauricio,

Casa Tucanes sits in lovely cool grove on a small hill above the beach. Just high enough to catch the cool evening sea breezes and far enough away from other homes and business's that the only sounds you hear are the bird songs from the surrounding forest and the tinkling of the fountain in the garden.

Rosa and Mauricio are warm and kind people who made us feel at home. The bungalows are spotlessly clean, cool, picturesque everything you could ask for in a vacation home.

Zihuatanejo itself is the perfect tropical destination. Relatively unspoiled by commercialism. The people are kind, patient and scrupulously honest. We will be back!

Keith & Sandi.

Dear  friend,

..... and missing Zihua like crazy!!!! I'm home-sick. I feel as though I was born in Zihua and only just found my way home. It amazed me that I felt so comfortable and "at-home" right away.

I fell in love with the town, the people, the weather, the water...there are even a couple of burros I'm on speaking terms with. (One especially used to toss her head at me and nose my pockets for treats.) Sigh....

I especially fell in love with Rosa and her family. What wonderful people!!! I can't say enough about them. I felt like I was leaving long lost/found relatives behind when I left. I am definitely going to go back next year. Rosa is a true gem. All three girls escorted me to the Airport, chattering the whole way. What a great sendoff! Lynne Hughes

Rosa,

Thanks so much for your hospitality while we were in Zihuatanejo. We loved the town and especially enjoyed the new bungalow - it was beautiful! Kitty was also a little sweetheart! We are telling all our friends about how nice the trip was and we hope to be able to come back again next winter. Thanks again. Susan Braidwood

Señora Rosa,

Estamos aquí en nuestra casa. Toda está bien. Muchas gracias por su hospitalidad. Me gusta muchisimo Casa Tucanes. Entonces les diré a todos mis amigos de Alaska que Villa Palomas es el mejor lugar de Playa La Ropa. Charlie Parr and Marilyn Biagi

Rosa,

This is to let you know that we arrived back in California safe and sound. We had a wonderful time at Los Tucanes. We will tell all our friends about it. Zihua was beautiful. We plan to return again next year. Thanks. Ethan Nebelkepof

Rosa

I am so sorry we have taken so long to respond to your lovely note. We got very busy as soon as we got home. Thank you for a wonderful visit. All of us have very nice memories of Zihuatanejo and your lovely bungalows. Annie is not sick anymore. She got better soon after coming home. Thank you for sending us to such a nice doctor. Again, thank you for all your kindness. Ann Bergman and family.

Dear  Señora,

This is just a short note to let you know we have returned from a wonderful 10 day Zihuatanejo vacation. Bungalow Tucanes was great and Rosa, Maurizio and everyone else were fantastic hosts. We would have absolutely no problem in being used as a reference for other potential visitors. Thanks for your services - it's not often we set everything up over the 'net with a complete stranger but in this case everything worked out a treat. ZIHUA is GREAT - We can't wait to go back!

Regards,Evan & Ariane Ferguson

Dear  Lynne,

Before too much time elapses I wanted to thank you and let you know that Michael and I had a wonderful time in Zihuatanejo!

Thank you for helping us out at such short notice! I'm glad that Bungalows Tucanes was available. We were really pleased with the location on the far end of La Ropa, it was perfect. And we liked being tucked back away from the beach. We were happy with the accommodations and Rosa et al were such a delight. We enjoyed the whole family, I know I am getting ahead of the game but I want to reserve it for three weeks in March '98. It was really great."

I won't go on with all of our vacation experiences except to tell that we had a great time and we really were charmed with Zihuatanejo. We want to go back, perhaps next year. Thanks again for being such a help to us. We couldn't have done it without you!

Please say "hola" to the girls, and tell Aguida that we so enjoyed visiting with her hijos. At first Alicia was so shy (ella?), but she gave us a nice wave goodbye from the taxi. I will always remember the beautiful faces of your children, Rosa. We had a nice time the last dia, eating mangos and drinking mango jugo. Please tell Mauricio and Chuche "chewa", and don't forget your amigos in Oregon, OK?

Dear Rosa,

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at Los Tucanes! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Zihuatanejo. It was so interesting and pleasant and fun, and staying in your beautiful Bungalows was such a big part of our visit. Some day we will return to Zihuatanejo, and we would like to talk to you then about staying at Los Tucanes. Maybe one or two years from now. You and your husband have worked so hard to build a beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed your children and your 'adopted child' Rebecca was of great interest to my oldest boy (he now wants his own parrot). My wife and I wish for you a good summer, and we thank you again for the wonderful time we had staying at your Bungalows.

Peter and Wendy Burnham

To Anyone Seeking Paradise:I am writing this letter as a reference for Casa Tucanes in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. My husband and I had the extreme pleasure of staying with Mauricio, Rosa and their family for a week in February 1999 in Villa Palomas. Zihuatanejo is a beautiful place and Casa Tucanes was the perfect place to stay.

The Bungalows are situated toward the end of La Ropa Road about 5 minutes* walk from La Ropa beach. While being close enough to conveniently enjoy the beach, it was also secluded enough to enjoy the serenity of Zihuatanejo and the sounds of the jungle. La Ropa road has plenty of buses and taxis going to and from downtown Zihuatanejo (El Centro), so there was always available transportation. El Mercado had a very good selection of food and just about any other thing you could need. Taxis ranged from $2 to $3 and the bus was available one-way for about 30 cents.

La Ropa beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. There are great restaurants and beach bars with delicious food at very reasonable prices. There are also nicer restaurants for more formal dining; in fact, La Ropa beach has two very beautiful luxury hotels. We ate most of our meals on the beach and had no problems at all. I had the freshest seafood I have ever had, as well as the most delicious pina colada in the world. Our favorite restaurants were Gitanos, the Albatros and Rossy*s. There is a small lagoon between the Albatros and Gitanos that has live salt-water crocodiles and turtles. Also on La Ropa beach were opportunities for para-sailing, fishing and some pretty good places to snorkel. No, it*s not the Caribbean, but there is quite an abundance of sea life to be seen. There are also some small shops with plenty of souvenirs.

As much fun as we had on the beach, it was always nice to return to our bungalow and relax. With a fully-equipped kitchen, coffee-maker, blender and bottled water, we often cooked our own meals and just enjoyed the sights and sounds from our window. The open-air construction of the Bungalows Los Tucanes was perfect for the climate. The furnishings and artwork are beautiful examples of rich Mexican culture. The Bungalows are surrounded by a high fence with a locked gate to ensure security. At night, the grounds are also patrolled by *Bruno* and *Camilla*, two very well-behaved Dobermans, who were quite content to let us come and go as we needed. We always felt very safe at Los Tucanes.

The entire time we were making travel arrangements and upon our arrival, Mauricio and Rosa made us feel like part of the family. In fact, we still feel very close to them and are pleased to have made such good friends. They were always willing to help with any arrangements we needed during our stay; including a great fishing trip, taxis, restaurant recommendations and information about Zihua and Ixtapa. Rosa is also very well educated and knows a lot about different Mexican cultures. It was a pleasure getting to know her.

There was only one problem with our visit, and that was that it had to end. We are impatiently waiting to get back as soon as we can and see our new friends and experience the magic of Zihuatanejo again.

Sincerely,

Lehi, Utah, Reid and Valerie Stagg

Hola to our Mexican family,

We have arrived home safely. The weather is warm for this time of year with temperatures hovering near the freezing mark and with some signs of melting snow - but of course we cannot yet wear our shorts or bathing suits outside - that will have to wait a few more months. Thank you for the love and kindness shown to us during our stay at the Bungalows Los Tucanes – we are already looking forward to our return visit next year.

Love to all from Len and Gloria.

Dear Rosa,
We are back in Seattle and missing the warm July sun in Zihuatanejo.  It was wonderful staying in lovely Casa Tucanes, although a week wasn't long enough.  I have told family and friends of the beautiful room and garden.  We will be back!!

Dear Rosa, Mauricio, Laura, Gabby, Carla and Chuche,

Thank you to everyone for making our stay in Mexico so wonderful!  Every trip we make to Mexico we love it more and more.  Please don't worry about not being able to take us to the airport Rosa, we took a taxi and it was okay.  Hope you were able to get your car fixed.  I'm sorry I missed seeing the girls before we left.  Please tell them thank you for our cards and pictures and give them hugs from me.  When we arrived home it was 18 degrees and snow on the ground....I wanted to go right back to Zihuat!  Thank you again Rosa for taking us out to lunch and for all your hospitality.  If you'd like, you can write to me in Spanish.  I have a friend who will translate.  Take care,

To Rosa and her wonderful family,

Feliz Navidad and Happy New Year to you and your lovely family.  I hope that God blesses you in the new year. The weather here is very cold and with lots of snow...we can not wait to see you and beautiful  Mexico with the warm sunshine and warm people! We are very excited to see you on January 29!

Hugs and Kisses,

Gail and Rudi Jammer

Dear Rosa,

I wanted to thank you and your family for your hospitality and the facilities you made available. We had a great time. The whether was as usual perfect and the people friendly. I can highly recommend the El Pirata for the best margaritas as the sun sets from La Ropa beech.

We are now arguing over which of your rooms to rent next year. I want the far bungalow and Maureen wants the ground floor villa again. We have nearly a year to reach an agreement. My son, Matt is excited to use your new pool. It will be a nice addition.

If anyone inquires and would like my reference you have my permission to share with them my email address.

Attached are some pictures of your facility. I have more if you would like them.

David & Matt Kanters

Dear Rosa,

We had the best time in Zihuatanejo, especially staying at Casa Tucanes!  It is the most incredible place we saw in the area.  The view from the Villa Alondras was spectacular!  So private and relaxing.  You are very lucky to have such a beautiful place.  We will definitely try to stay at Casa Tucanes next time we vacation in Zihuatanejo.  Thank you and all the employees at Casa Tucanes for making our vacation the most pleasant we have ever had!
